Margate Women’s Institute is a friendly WI which offers a place for women to get together to socialise, learn, contribute to our community and to have fun.

Where we meet

We meet on the second Thursday of each month from 7.30-9.30pm at Olby’s Soul Cafe, 3-5 King Street, Margate CT9 1DD. The venue is fully accessible. Please contact us if you need help with attending our meetings.

What we do

In Margate WI there are around eighty local women of all ages, who enjoy meeting together, hearing talks on a wide range of topics (for example from ‘Get Wild’, seen above) and engaging in a variety of interesting activities, for example our session with Community Lifesavers (seen below).

In addition to our monthly meetings, members can also join any (or all!) of our active sub-groups where like-minded members can meet up and share interests together. Click here to see the current list of sub-groups.

We contribute to our local community with regular Litter Picks and through our activities, we support local charities. In the past few years, these have included The Garden Gate Project, Oasis Domestic Abuse Service, Arts Education Exchange and the RNLI. Members get involved with events such as the Thanet Festival, Margate Pride, POW! and Mergate. We also organise a Christmas Fayre each year, held at Dreamland.
